Curriculum
At Bet Yeladim, we:
Support kindergarten readiness by nurturing each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play-based learning, hands-on experiences, and intentional instruction.
Build strong foundations in early math, language, and literacy by embedding counting, problem-solving, storytelling, vocabulary development, and early writing skills naturally into daily classroom experiences.
Introduce STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) through exploration, experimentation, construction, creative design, and inquiry-based projects that promote critical thinking and collaboration.
Encourage independence, creativity, and self-expression, empowering children to ask questions, explore ideas, and make meaningful connections to the world around them.
Instill lifelong values such as kindness, respect, responsibility, and empathy—taught through a Jewish lens and thoughtfully embedded into everyday classroom life.
Our Philosophy
Bet Yeladim uses The Creative Curriculum to guide our Emergent Curriculum approach to learning.
The four pillars of our Emergent Curriculum include:
The Environment
Thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and independent exploration across all areas of development.
The Role of the Educator
Teachers serve as observers, collaborators, and facilitators—guiding learning, leading small-group experiences, and responding intentionally to children’s interests.Observation & Documentation
Ongoing assessment of each child’s development informs individualized instruction and meaningful learning experiences.Project Work & Practice
In-depth, collaborative exploration of real-world topics that integrates early literacy, math, science, and creative expression.
While much of children’s learning occurs through play, our educators are highly intentional in how they support academic growth. As children engage in hands-on activities, teachers regularly meet with individual children and small groups to deepen learning and provide targeted instruction in areas such as math, science, language, and literacy.
This intentional balance of child-initiated play and teacher-guided small-group learning allows educators to:
Strengthen foundational academic skills
Introduce new concepts at the right developmental moment
Individualize instruction and support kindergarten readiness
Extend children’s thinking through questioning, discussion, and problem-solving
Children are active participants in their learning—asking questions, conducting investigations, collaborating with peers, and reflecting on their experiences. These practices build confidence, communication skills, and a strong foundation for future academic success.
What a Day Looks Like at Bet Yeladim
Each day at Bet Yeladim is thoughtfully structured to balance play, exploration, small-group learning, and meaningful routines.
Children engage in extended periods of play where they explore classroom materials, collaborate with peers, and follow their natural curiosity. During this time, teachers observe closely and meet with small groups or individual children to support learning in areas such as math, science, language development, and early literacy.
Throughout the day, children also participate in:
Circle time and group discussions
Storytelling, music, and movement
Hands-on STEAM experiences
Outdoor play and physical development
Jewish learning woven naturally into classroom life
This rhythm ensures that children feel secure and joyful, while also receiving the intentional instruction and guidance that supports growth and kindergarten readiness.
Learning Across Age Groups
Infants
(8 weeks–18 months)
Our infant program focuses on nurturing relationships, sensory exploration, language exposure, and motor development. Teachers engage infants in responsive interactions, songs, books, and small-group experiences that support early communication, curiosity, and trust.
Toddlers & Preschool
(18 months–4 years)
Toddlers and preschoolers learn through active play, exploration, and social interaction. Teachers introduce early math, science, language, and literacy skills through small-group activities, stories, hands-on materials, and project work that builds independence, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
Pre-Kindergarten
(4–5 years)
Our Pre-K program intentionally supports kindergarten readiness by strengthening early literacy, math concepts, critical thinking, self-regulation, and collaboration skills. Through a combination of play, small-group instruction, and long-term projects, children develop the academic and social foundations needed for a confident transition to kindergarten.
